Day 14……30 Day Wild Challenge…..The Clouds Parted

“The sky, a perfect empty canvas, offers clouds nonetheless. They shift and drift and beg interpretation….such is the nature of art. ~Jeb Dickerson~

The hubby decided to join me on my Sunday Soul Stroll……he’s a pretty cool guy…he supports and encourages me in all that I do and he gets me!!!!

We started our walk in a comfortable silence. We had the beach to ourselves….it started to rain and did a little dance to the sound of the waves…

“Dark clouds become heavens flowers when kissed by light.”  ~Radindranath Tagore~

And then the clouds parted………………what started out as a rainy morning turned into a spectacular Ray of sun…..

“Even on cloudy days the sun waits to break through.” ~Daniel~

Day 13….30 Day Wild Challenge….Back To My Senses

I go to nature to be soothed and healed, and to have my senses put in order. ~John Burroughs~

For today’s Soul Stroll I decided to leave my camera home! I love taking pictures, capturing moments to keep as reminders. But in doing so, I lose out on relishing ‘the moment’ because I’m so preoccupied in getting just the right shot…so leaving my camera home wasn’t an easy thing to do. So for this blog I’ve reached into my archives.

The waves crash and its a symphony… walk along in solitude and listen to the orchestra of sounds soothes the soul.

“One touch of nature makes the whole world kin.” ~William Shakespeare~

As soon as my feet touch the water, I’m at peace, I am home.

The scent of the briny marsh that hits you as you start your drive across the causeway is an acquired scent….for me the aroma (marsh mud) signifies Home!!

Ok…..this one I’ve taken liberties with…since I’ve yet to be swimming I can’t talk about the stinging salty taste you get when you lick your lips after diving through a wave… my picture is my favorite to go coffee cup. But coffee does taste doubly wonderful on the beach at sunrise!

“Don’t try to describe the ocean if you’ve never seen it.” ~Jimmy Buffett~

I’ve been Blessed to see so much of natures beauty here in my own backyard. Words and pictures can’t do them justice, though I am grateful for the moments I have frozen in time. This mornings camera less stroll, left me open to soak it all in and to appreciate this beautiful island I call home!

I have to admit while walking, I saw a bald eagle and my first reaction was to reach for my camera. I then just stood and observed, and he gifted me with a flight over my head, circled and then landed once again. A moment, a memory etched in my mind and heart.

Day 12……30 Day Wild Challenge….Soul Stroll

“When the world threatens to flood my barricades,

I run to my centre, my calm, my bliss.” ~©Alison Stormwolf~

Today was all about ‘just being’ in and with nature. I’ve taken to calling my walks, my Soul Strolls. I’ve been hitting it pretty lucky and finding the beach virtually empty of people……

When I looked down I saw Angel wings……

” Withdraw yourself

from the never ending masquerade of life.

Go within, there you will find your treasure.”

There is beauty found in the imperfect…….

My meditation spot…..Reconnection with self is vital….I find the older I get the more I search out places where I can be alone away from all the busyness….

Peace from the beach ✌️

Day 11…..30 Day Wild Challenge….It’s For The Birds

The air is crowded with birds — beautiful, tender, intelligent birds — to whom life is a song. ~GEORGE HENRY LEWES~

Today goes to the birds of the Refuge. You never know what your going to see, from songbirds to water fowl. We of course have the Cardinal, the State Bird of my state!

 The beautiful Red-Winged Black Bird…..

  The Majestic Bald Eagle….

  Blue Heron

Egrets and Herons and Seagulls enjoying breakfast…

  Pelicans (my favorite bird!)

  And our adorable Piping Plovers…..

“He spoke of very simple things- that it is right for a gull to fly, that freedom is the very nature of his being, that whatever stands against that freedom must be set aside, be it ritual or superstition or limitation in any form.

“Set aside,” came a voice from the multitude, “even if it be the Law of the Flock?”
“The only true law is that which leads to freedom,” Jonathan said. “There is no other.” ~ Richard Bach, Jonathan Livingston Seagull~

Day 10…..30 Day Wild Challenge……Dragonflies

Deep in the sun-searched growths the dragonfly. Hangs like a blue thread loosened from the sky. ~Dante Gabriel Rossetti~

Obviously from my blog name….I’m akin to the dragonfly…..

The dragonfly symbolizes different things in different cultures…..In Japan it symbolizes joy and rebirth; in Native American Culture it represents a departed soul. All these meanings resonate with me on so many different levels…

Because it’s life is so short, the symbol of the dragonfly tells us to live fully Now and Be Present.

I’ve gone through a lot of changes in the last 12 years of my life, and as a symbol of those changes and the changes yet to come, I wear my dragonflies..

I was so afraid of many of the changes that occurred in my life, but in time I saw them  for the blessings and gifts they were. I’d  come to believe that everything happens for a reason, that there are no mistakes. The Dragonfly’s appearance is full of gifts if you open yourself up to them and believe………..
