Please Send Me To My Room ๐Ÿ•

My dear friend Calen, over atย Impromptu Promptlings, posed this question….So my question for you, dear reader, is, if you could have a space of your own AWAY from your home and design it how youโ€™d want it, what would it be like? Or would you even WANT that? If not, why not?

โ€œEach place is the right place–the place where I now am can be a sacred space.” ~Ravi Ravindra~

Here’s a picture of my ‘little space’ at the moment. ย It’s in our living room. We live in a very small island cottage, and though it’s just the two of us and a 100 pound German Shepard, we are literally on top of one another. To be fair, I do have a few hours each day of ‘alone’ time, as hubby is still working…but retirement looms on the horizon.

I’m not very good with adjectives and describing my ‘ideal’ space, so I’ll share a few photos of spaces the I could be very happy with….they don’t have to be in another area, I’d actually love it if I could have my own ‘Tiny Cottagein my backyard.

โ€œThe calm within the storm is where peace lives and breathes. It is not within perfect circumstances or a charmed life… it is not conditional. Peace is a sacred space within, it is the temple of our internal landscape. We are free to visit it, whenever we seek sanctuary. Underneath the chaos of everyday living, peace is patiently awaiting our discovery… go within.โ€ ~ Jaeda DeWalt~

  1. I love the quote you have by Jaeda De Walt. And looking at the pics you’ve posted, I gather your “Ideal Space” would be a calm environment. Do you think that’s because you share such a tight space with your hubby and dog?

  2. Oh wow! I LOVE that one of the lanterns hanging all over and looking out over the ocean. I have always wanted to find a quiet space on deck and write when we have gone on cruises, just so I could look at the ocean. But every time we’ve traveled the weather has not cooperated! I find the sea so inspiring.

  3. Oh so inspiring, Linda! First, I want to live in that pagoda, under the table.
Second, the picture below it is SO Red Tent Temple; have you heard of them? They’re popping up all over the country.
Third, the sunroom is amazing! The garden exquisite, and the lantern space is awe inspiring!
I actually collected pictures for that (now past) Cee’s challenge you mentioned, and there were some things which were somewhat similar. But then there’s the Southwest me. Have a couple of pics for that too. Each part of me clamors for something other. ๐Ÿ™‚

  4. This is a link to what the Red Tent Temple is about: http://redtenttemplemovement.com/
Quite many (20 or so?) years ago, I’d gone to a retreat called Womencircles. It was one of those life changing events, and I attended them for many years, until I was living in Texas and couldn’t afford to go anymore. When I saw The Red Tent Temple (there’s a movie which, about a year ago, I happened upn, and thought, Oh, yes! This is what being at Womencircles is like. I’ve signed up for – though have not seen them all – the Red Tent Youtube chanel. But it’s just snippets of the movie. Still, it was very exciting to find that there were so many communities which were showing up with these events for women and healing.

Have something to share....I'd love to hear it!!!
