My Backyard Meanderings….

It’s been a while since I posted any kind of photography inspired blog. Though I’ve missed it, my heart just hasn’t been quite ‘there’. Last evening, as the sun was setting in the west (which happens to be the way my home faces), I was curled up on my couch, which faces the east…..and was looking out in my backyard and was gifted this amazing view….needless to say, I bundled up (cause yes, ole man winter has us in his clutches once again!) grabbed my phone and captured these few pics……it never ceases to amaze me, how, when I’m feeling sad, nature finds a way to make me feel a whole lot better.

Nature helps heal and it inspired me to finish a little something I had started writing a while ago……my writing hasn’t been coming as easy as it once was, seems I lost my voice a bit along the way of this new journey…maybe, just maybe I’m starting to find it again?!

You don’t want me sad.

Dry those tears you say.

I’m working on it husband,

But the pain won’t go away.

In the meantime I will try.

I promise you this,

To take each moment as it comes,

And enjoy the views like this…….

And just for emphasis on the views…here’s a few more 😊

Open Heart…Open Eyes

One needs to open up not

Just their eyes.

But also their hearts to ‘see’..

The signs that are all around us

And the comfort they can bring……

I see with my eyes

A leaf, folded over,

encased in early frost.

My heart ‘sees’ an Angel Wing,

Reminding me your not lost….

My eyes see autumn colored branches

reaching for the morning sunlight,

drying from yesterday’s snow.

My heart ‘sees’ a frosty heart

Amidst the ‘mourning’ glow.

Getting To Know Me…

The rains have come on this Monday afternoon…early darkness has me turning on my little fairy lights, lighting a few candles and joining in Cee’s Share Your World………..and here are today’s questions!

Are you a hugger or a non-hugger? unequivocally a hugger 😊😊😊

What is your least favorite Candy? Hmmmmmmmm…..I’d have to say those yellow wrapped butterscotch candies I remember from childhood..never liked them! 😝

What’s the first thing that comes to mind when you hear the word “fun”? My Soul Strolls…..being in nature..sharing my love of nature with my grandchildren

List of Favorite Smells: What smells do you love? Whether it’s vanilla scented candles or the smell of coffee in the morning or the smell of a fresh spring rain…make a list of all the things you love for a little aromatherapy….

  • The scent of wet fallen leaves
  • Clothes after they’ve dried on the clothesline
  • The briny scent of the marsh
  • Spicy candles
  • Fresh ground coffee
  • Baking bread
  • The scent outside right now, rain on the hot macadam
  • Puppy breath
  • Salty ocean air

Bonus question: What are you grateful for from last week, and what are you looking forward to in the week coming up? The hard work of this weight loss/getting healthy journey is paying off….hip is feeling better and nothing feels quite as good as putting on a pair a jeans that I haven’t been able to wear in years!!!
Looking forward to the cooler temps being predicted…

A Little Bit ‘Bout Me 😊

Monday..Monday……Share Your World with me 😄 Yep,,,it’s that time over at Cees Place!!! This week, she poses these questions….

What’s your most memorable (good or bad) airplane flight? February 2, 2014, I had an amazing experience on a flight home from a weekend visit with the kids. I was seated with a sweet woman, Fran. We chatted the entire flight,,,meaningful, heartfelt conversation. She was having issues with her children, and as I’m estranged from mine, she asked questions to get my perspective, and in turn, she shared hers. We opened each other’s eyes a bit…….I keep her and our meeting tucked away in a small corner of my heart…..I look for her every time I fly.

How many bones, if any, have you broken? Happily, I can say none.

If you had your own talk show, who would your first three guests be? (guest can be dead, alive, famous or someone you just know). Amelia Earhart , Anne Morrow Lindbergh and Stephen King.

Make a Currently List: What are you reading, watching, listening to, eating, needing, wanting, and missing right now?

  • I’m reading Writing Down Your Soul by Janet Conner
  • I’m not watching any one thing at the moment. Tend to watch tv more in winter.
  • When I am walking through town, whatever pops up on my phone. If I have music on at home 9 times out of 10 it’s New Age…or 70’s.
  • Peaches from the farmers market
  • I’m needing to get to the grocery store…I’m wanting a banana split 😁
  • I’m missing my children and grandchildren….achingly missing them ❤️

Bonus question: What are you grateful for from last week, and what are you looking forward to in the week coming up? I’m grateful for my daughter Stefanie’s shoulder when I needed to unload ❤️

And I’m looking forward to my son Brad and his family’s arrival Friday night..they’love be here for 10 days!!! ❤️

My Sea ….. World 🌊🌊🌊

This morning, as I was reading Lady Calen’s take on last weeks The Sandbox Writing Challenge, it got me thinking, once again, about Home and ‘My Own Little World’.

I ended up going to the beach for an unplanned Soul Stroll, and immersing myself, once again in ‘my own little world.’

As I strolled along…..this is what came to mind…

I know my life here is not a permanent one. Retirement is looming. Aging as well. I have no clue where the next leg of my/our journey is going to take me/us. I’d like to think that the sea will be a part of the continuation of this journey, only time will tell. But for now, I will continue to Live In My World here, and graciously accept the healing it offers me…………

Wherever I am going

Whatever road I’m on

The healing powers of the sea

Are what I’ll draw upon…….

No matter where I end up, this place will be the place that brought me ‘home’ to myself. It gave me back my self worth. It healed my brokenness. It made me whole again. And yes, the cracks remain…but that’s so my Soul can Shine on through 💛

It was a heck of a Soul Stroll…… 😊
