2020 Home Photo Challenge 1-23-20

This is a photo of what’s left of the original homestead that once stood here in my property.

The Stones here speak to me, and I know their mute language. Also, they seem deeply to feel what I think. So a broken column of the old Roman times, an old tower of Lombardy, a weather-beaten Gothic piece of a pillar understands me well. But I am a ruin myself, wandering among ruins.” ~Heinrich Heine~

40 Day Sugar Fast…Day 11

DAY 11 — Thursday, January 16, 2020

Sweet friends, it’s time to shine!

Today’s scripture is one of my favorite passages of all time!

“You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do people light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a stand, and it gives light to all in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.” (Matthew 5:14–16)

Who is desperate to shine? I’ve been able to see a direct correlation between what I’m putting in me and what is coming out of me. When I’m not nourishing my spirit or my body… both my spirit and my body struggle.

Here’s the hope:

“As you go without sugar, without chocolate-covered almonds and soda, as you rid your body of all those temporary feel-good fillers, invite God to fill you up with Himself. As He does, you’ll shine a bright light in the darkness. Once full of sugar, suddenly light-bright and brilliant. You’ll be a light vessel once again—His light vessel.”

Take a moment to share below. How did today’s scripture and message encourage and inspire you?

40 Day Sugar Fast

**********************************************************************************************************************************************

When I saw that today, Day 11’s chapter, was titled Shine, I couldn’t help but smile. Today, marks one year since a beautiful light in my life went home. Claudia’s light shone and touched many lives. It was she who held my hand and helped me those first few weeks after my husband died. She made sure my own inner light never went out. She always called me her little ray of sunshine, but the truth was, she was mine.

As I continue forward on this fast/journey, I’m beginning to feel lighter, not as foggy, seeing things with brighter eyes…my inner spark is being fanned by His Word, not dulled by food and drink.

Your eye is the lamp of your body. When your eye is healthy, your whole body is full of light, but when it is bad, your body is full of darkness. Therefore be careful lest the light in you be darkness.

(Luke 11:34-35)
